Dr. Anschutz uses two chiropractic techniques that do not involve twisting and cracking.  These techniques are Sacro-Occipital Technique (SOT) and Activator.

SOT

SOT stands for Sacro Occipital Technique, a chiropractic technique created by Dr. DeJarnette. In this technique we start with evaluating the patient for one of three basic distortions. Adjustments are then done in the prone or supine position, starting with placing blocks under the pelvis. Advaced work can concentrate on the organs or systems of the body, or on the role that bones of the skull or cranium play on the flow of cerebrospinal fluid.

Adjustments done on the neck in this technique are especially gentle and concentrate on the proper function of the vertebrae in units rather than forcefully moving one vertebrae. It is especially rewarding to hear and feel the neck movement return to proper motion right in my hands, and have the patient remark about the changes they feel immediately.

SOT works with the body instead of against it and uses gravity to our advantage in building a balanced foundation. Many low back pains actually start with improper movement in the pelvis and respond well to this technique.

SOT is especially useful for the patient who has never had or wanted a forceful adjustment such as children, the elderly and persons with chronic pain.

Activator Methods®

We also use Activator methods. This technique uses a spring loaded tool and testing done in the prone position (face down) to locate and correct misalignments of vertebrae and other joints that lead to pain and malfunction.  The patient stays in a comfortable position with little movement and can be adjusted quickly and efficiently in
